Iconic actor Sid Haig, best known among younger horror fans as Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie’s films, has passed away on Saturday (Sept. 21), according to an Instagram post by his wife Suzie. He was 80 years old. Haig was in the hospital’s ICU earlier this month after had an unspecified “accident.”

On Saturday, September 21, 2019, my light, my heart, my true love, my King, the other half of my soul, Sidney, passed from this realm on to the next. He has returned to the Universe, a shining star in her heavens. He was my angel, my husband, my best friend and always will be. He adored his family, his friends and his fans. Rob Zombie took to social media to pay his respects to Sid Haig. Haig is best known for playing the murderous clown, Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie’s movies The Devil’s Rejects, House Of 1000 Corpses and a minor cameo in the just-released 3 From Hell.
